ROUND UP:

The Hurricanes moved to the the top of the table along with the Waratahs with a hard earned win over the Sharks. Its always hard returning home from their three match trip to South Africa, but they brushed the long flight off and showed great characther and in the end their stunch defence won them the game. The sharks scored late in the game to earn a bonus point.

The Blues got smashed by the Waratahs. They had all the possesion but did sweet FA with it, they lacked ideas and passion with the Waratahs winning all the 50-50 balls and showing the desire to win. The Waratahs have signaled their intent with this display, can they go one better then last year?

The Cheifs got pipped at the post by the Brumbies. Stirling Mortlocks late try and conversion sealing victory in a great game of footie. After Mortlock's try the Cheifs still had their chances but a forward pass to Sitiveni Sivivatu with the line at his mercy and a dreadful attempt at a drop goal by Stephen Donald just wasn't enough, the Brumbies held on.

The Highlanders got their campaigne back on track when they managed to sneak past the Cats. Leading 16-0, the Highlanders let the Cats score two late tries to make it into a nail biter for the home supporters. The Cats were in the Highlanders half for 70% of the game, but only had the two late tries to show for it, poor decision making and execution was their down fall.
